Terms of use
What a photo-based estimate is and is not, how the price is arrived at, and the terms for using content from this site.
Last updated: August 30, 2026
Using this site means accepting the terms below. They are short and free of traps.
What a photo-based estimate is
When you send photos and a description of the fault, you get an indicative estimate — the likely cause, a risk level, a price range and a proposed time for the visit.
That estimate is informational. It is made from what the photos show, and a photo does not show the state of the cable inside the wall, insulation resistance, the quality of joints in the junction boxes, or how loaded the circuit is. The final price and the final diagnosis are established only by an on-site inspection.
If the job turns out on site to be different from what the photo suggested, we say so before starting and give a new quote. We never begin work whose price has not been accepted first.
Every price you are given, in the estimate and on site, is final. We are not registered for VAT, so no tax is added to the agreed figure.
What the estimate is not
- Not a test report or certificate. Certifying an installation means measurements with a written record, which is a separate service.
- Not a guaranteed price. A range from an estimate is a range, not a fixed quote.
- Not DIY instructions. If the estimate says something is dangerous, that means "do not touch it", not "here is how to fix it".
The advice articles
The articles exist so you can understand what is happening in your installation and when a situation is urgent. They are written in good faith and from practice, but they do not replace a qualified electrician on site.
Work on live electrical installations is life-threatening. If you decide to do something yourself based on what you read here, you do so at your own risk. nik volt is not liable for damage arising from your own work.
Appointments and cancellation
Appointments are agreed by phone after the estimate. If you cannot make the agreed time, call the number on the site — we do not charge for cancellations.
If we travel to the agreed address and nobody answers, the call-out is charged at the listed rate.
Prices
Prices shown on the site are indicative and exclude materials, except where explicitly stated otherwise. The call-out fee is deducted from the repair price if the work is carried out during that same visit.
Prices may change; the quote you receive before work starts is what counts, not the figure on the site.
Warranty
We warrant the work we carry out. The warranty covers the work performed and does not cover:
- faults in parts of the installation we did not touch,
- damage caused by a third party's later intervention,
- force majeure and lightning strikes,
- equipment and materials supplied by the client.
Installed materials carry their manufacturer's warranty.
