Electrician in Vračar
Interwar buildings and narrow hallways — in Vračar most of the work is installations that have outlived several renovations.
Response time: 30–60 minutes
Vračar has the oldest housing stock of the municipalities we cover, and that determines almost everything.
What we find
Installations that have outlived several renovations. In interwar buildings the original wiring was replaced long ago, but in layers — each owner added something. So under one faceplate you find copper and aluminium, cloth and PVC insulation, all in the same place.
The neutral broken instead of the line. This turns up routinely in flats of this period. It means the lampholder is live with the switch off — not a hazard you can see, but a hazard. We correct it whenever we find it, regardless of what we were called for.
Bathrooms with no protective conductor. The original design never had one there. This is the one item in Vračar we recommend fixing without hesitation, even when nothing is currently going wrong.
Thick solid-brick walls. That changes both cost and technique: chasing is slower, but there is room for surface conduit, which in listed buildings is often the only option.
What we do most
Outlet replacement with a look at what sits behind them (in Vračar, "behind" is usually more interesting than the socket itself), lighting installation, and full rewires during renovations.
If you are renovating, get in touch before the builders start — a new installation is planned while the walls are bare.
Response time
Vračar is central: the Temple, Kalenić, Neimar, Crveni krst — usually 30 to 60 minutes.
Common questions
My flat is in a building from the thirties. Can the wiring be sorted without demolition?
In most cases yes, if it is done in stages. The critical circuits — kitchen, bathroom, board — can be replaced without touching the whole flat. A full rewire is best during a renovation, but it is not the only route.
Why do old flats so often have the neutral broken instead of the line?
Because it passed when those flats were built, and it got copied afterwards. The consequence is that the lampholder stays live with the light switched off. We correct it whenever we come across it.
Do you work in listed buildings?
We do, with an agreement on what may be chased. In listed buildings we often run surface conduit following the joinery lines instead of going into the wall.
How fast do you get to the Temple and Kalenić market area?
Vračar is central, so usually 30 to 60 minutes.
